1.阴虚热盛型Yin Deficiency with Excess Heat Pattern
症状：口干口渴，五心烦热，多食易饥，盗汗，舌质较红，舌苔薄白
Symptoms: Dry mouth and thirst, heat sensation in the palms, soles, and chest, excessive eating with easy hunger, night sweats, red tongue, and thin white tongue coating.
治疗：以滋阴清热为主
Treatment: Primarily nourish Yin and clear heat.
用药：常用生石膏、知母、黄连、元参、沙参、山药等
Common herbs: Gypsum Fibrosum, Anemarrhena, Coptis, Scrophularia, Glehnia root, Chinese yam, etc.
2.瘀血阻络者
2. Blood Stasis Obstructing the Collaterals Pattern
症状：舌质暗淡，瘀点，瘀斑
Symptoms: Dark or dull tongue with petechiae or ecchymosis.
治疗：以活血化瘀为主
Treatment: Primarily invigorate blood and resolve blood stasis.
用药：常用血府逐瘀汤加减、补阳还五汤加减、玉女煎加减等

3.气阴两虚型

症状：口干舌燥，多饮多尿，疲劳乏力，舌质红，舌苔白
Symptoms: Dry mouth and tongue, excessive drinking and urination, fatigue and weakness, red tongue, and white tongue coating.
治疗：以益气生津为主
Treatment: Primarily tonify Qi and generate body fluids.
用药：常用黄芪、人参、山药、麦冬、沙参等
Common herbs: Astragalus, Ginseng, Chinese yam, Ophiopogon root, Glehnia root, etc.
4.肝气郁结或肝气横逆型

症状：情绪抑郁，纳呆少食，胸胁胀闷，急躁易怒，舌质红，舌苔较黄

治疗：以疏肝调气解郁为主

5.热毒炽盛者

症状：口舌生疮，口苦目赤，便秘溲黄，舌质红，舌苔较黄
Symptoms: Mouth and tongue ulcers, bitter taste, red eyes, constipation, dark yellow urine, red tongue, and yellow tongue coating.
治疗：以清热解毒为主
Treatment: Primarily clear heat and detoxify.
用药：常用白茅根、马齿苋、蒲公英、金银花等
Common herbs: Imperata root, Purslane, Dandelion, Honeysuckle flower, etc.
